Hey, I'm Jess.
I know what it feels like to pursue a career in the fire service and face a hiring process that can feel overwhelming, competitive, and uncertain. I started Windrush Fire Coaching because, throughout my own journey, I realized that success in the fire service is built on more than hard work alone—it requires intentional preparation, self-awareness, and guidance from people who truly understand the process.
When I committed to becoming a firefighter, I went all in. As a mother of three, I stepped away from a successful corporate career in major retail sales, invested in my education, and dedicated myself to becoming the strongest candidate I could be. My life revolved around learning, training, responding as a volunteer firefighter, building relationships, and seeking every opportunity to grow.
Through that process, I learned what it takes to navigate the firefighter recruitment journey: how to build a competitive application, how to communicate your experiences effectively, and how to prepare with purpose long before an interview invitation arrives.
Today, I use those lessons to help others do the same. Windrush Fire Coaching was built for candidates who are passionate about the fire service, willing to put in the work, and looking for the guidance and tools to approach the process with confidence.
Before becoming a professional firefighter, I spent eight years building my career in corporate Communication, Sales, and Marketing with the world's largest food and beverage company. During that time, I developed expertise in communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and performing under pressure. Combined with my experience as a firefighter, this gives me a unique perspective—I understand both what departments are looking for and how candidates can effectively communicate the experiences, skills, and qualities they bring to the table.
