At Windrush Fire Coaching, we don't believe in shortcuts, generic templates, or one-size-fits-all solutions. You won't receive a copy-and-paste resume or interview preparation from someone who has never experienced the realities of the fire service. Our programs are built around understanding you—your experiences, your strengths, your areas for growth, and the skills required to present yourself as a competitive candidate. We take a personalized approach to candidate development by helping you understand the firefighter recruitment process, strengthen your application, prepare strategically for interviews, and develop the confidence required to communicate your experiences effectively. 

One of the biggest mistakes candidates make is waiting until they receive an interview invitation before beginning their preparation. By that point, the pressure is already on. The time between receiving an interview request and interview day should be spent learning about the department, refining your approach, and building confidence—not trying to discover your own experiences and create answers under pressure.

Windrush Fire Coaching is not about providing you with 'the questions' or memorized responses. Our goal is to teach you the skills, strategies, and frameworks needed to confidently navigate any firefighter interview process. This requires commitment, preparation, and a willingness to invest in yourself.

We provide the knowledge, strategies, and coaching to help you navigate every stage of the firefighter recruitment process with confidence. The Mentorship Package will set you up best for success. It includes:

Cover Letter and Resume Overhaul

• Applying and not hearing back? Chances are you need a resume re-work. Our service is a personalized approach that focuses on highlighting the certifications and core competencies that today's departments are eager to acquire. A deep dive into your personal and professional experience is necessary to produce a resume and cover-letter that emphasizes your suitability. 
• Education on applicant tracking systems (ATS) and resume-screening practices, including how to structure and tailor your resume and cover letter for firefighter recruitment and specific job postings.
• Live editing workshops through Google Docs once the resume has been professionally edited     
• Resume point system implemented into your resume and explained      
• Ability to tailor the resume and CL to the specific department job posting candidate is preparing for. Please specify ahead of time and provide job posting. 
• Fully editable versions through Google Docs will be provided for future use and ease of editing

Interview Preparation and Workshop

Interview Prep should begin BEFORE you apply, and before your interview request. You need to invest time into self reflection and generating a catalog of solid Situational and Behavioral answers before you begin thinking about a specific department. This workshop sets you up for success from the start and includes:

• A one on one virtual discussion on how fire interviews are conducted, scored and ranked.  Interview questions and core competencies will be discussed. Review of past interview preparation, past interviews and highlighting core competencies to discuss. 
• The Windrush Fire Interview Preparation Workshop is the educational foundation of our interview preparation program. This comprehensive workbook and learning package teaches candidates how to approach firefighter interviews with confidence by understanding—not memorizing—the skills required to answer behavioural and situational competency questions effectively. Through guided exercises, candidates develop a library of authentic experiences, learn how to identify the core competencies fire departments are assessing, and build a structured framework for organizing and delivering thoughtful, meaningful responses. Rather than providing scripted answers, this workshop equips you with the knowledge and tools to adapt confidently to any department's interview process.
• A two hour virtual video coaching session on the completed worksheet. A deep dive into your answers, your stories and what departments are looking for from you. How to best word your answers, virtual rehearsal, key phrases and STAR delivery if necessary.
• Additional hours of coaching for any fire interview.  
• If a specific department is being prepared for, please specify ahead of time. 
• Please note that this Workshop package takes over a week to complete. 

Mentorship

At Windrush Fire Coaching, we understand that every candidate's journey is different. The recruitment process can be challenging to navigate, and knowing what to improve or where to focus your efforts can often be the hardest part. Our mentorship program provides you with continued guidance and support throughout your program term.

Included in your package are one-on-one coaching sessions that can be used strategically throughout your recruitment journey. Candidates may use this time to prepare for an upcoming interview, review a new department application, discuss OFAI recertifications, refine their approach after receiving feedback, or seek guidance as they progress through the hiring process.

Your journey is unique, and your preparation should be too. Our goal is to provide the education, perspective, and support needed to help you make informed decisions, continue developing as a candidate, and confidently approach each opportunity. 

Cost for the Mentorship Package is $2400

Please note: All minimum qualifications for hiring (DZ, EMR, 1001, 1072/472, OFAI 1-3) should be completed before starting the program. Mentorship access is valid for 12 months from the date of payment. Sessions must be used within this timeframe.
